Gift of Giving

Thank you to all who helped make the 5th Annual Gift of Giving Project a huge success! 

The Gift of Giving is an initiative of Halifax chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI), in support of local Boys and Girls Clubs

As part of the ‘Community involvement’ category, the JCI Halifax chapter initiated a wonderful project in 2003 called ‘The Gift of Giving’.  This year will be the 5th annual event, and so far, each one has been a great success!  The 2007 event will take place on Saturday, Dec 8th. The two Saturdays prior to the event, November 24th and December 1st we will be collecting donations at Canadian Tire in Dartmouth Crossing. Please stop by and support us!

What is “The Gift of Giving” all about?

The Gift of Giving teaches children an early lesson about the rewards that come from giving gifts at Christmas time, rather than just receiving them. To achieve this goal, JCI Halifax will once again partner with local retailers, Boys and Girls Clubs and corporate sponsors to provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to go shopping at Christmas time and purchase a gift for a loved one.  As part the event, the children also get to take part in a “ wrapping party”, so they get some help in getting their gifts ready to be placed under the Christmas tree.  Our goal for 2007 is to raise enough money to allow 160 children to participate.
