Conferences

JCI Canada members may take advantage of conferences on regional, national and international levels. These conferences allow members to experience situations not available at the chapter level and provide a broader arena for networking and business opportunities.

Regional
Each of the regions within JCI Canada holds at a regional conference each year hosted by a local chapter within that region. These weekend conferences provide opportunities for fellowship and training for the chapters within that region.

National
Each September JCI Canada holds its National Convention and Annual General Meeting. Chapters vie for the opportunity to host the National Convention.

The Annual General Meeting is the business portion of the National Convention and provides chapters with the opportunity to voice their opinion in the running of the corporation. Each chapter sends a Chief Delegate to the Annual General Meeting and the Chief Delegates elect the National Board, approve the national business plan and budget for the upcoming year and choose a host for the next year's National Convention.

National Convention also offers an excellent variety of professional development training and networking opportunities. Regional representatives compete on the national level at the Effective Speaking Competition during National Convention. The winner of this competition goes on to represent JCI Canada at the Area C Conference the following spring.

The Awards Program, also held at National Convention, recognizes not only individual successes but chapter successes as well.

International
There are a number of international conventions available to members of JCI Canada:

Area C
JCI Canada is a member of Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. Globally, JCI has 5,700 chapters in 110 nations and territories around the world. JCI countries are divided into four areas: Area A, B, C, and D. Canada is part of JCI’s Area C, which encompasses all of North, South, & Central America and the Caribbean.

An Area C conference is hosted by a different LOM (Local Organizational Member) each spring. The Area C conference provides training, networking and fellowship and is truly an international experience.

The winner of the Effective Speaking Competition will represent JCI Canada at the Area C Conference.

An ONTO Chair is appointed each year to organize the Canadian delegation.

World Congress

World-class training, speakers and entertainment set this event apart from all others. This is the premier international event of the year. Each year World Congress is hosted by a different National Organization Member on a different continent.

Conference dates will be listed on the calendar as they are announced.
